An opinion piece all about passions!

Have you heard the phrase: "You need to focus on ONE thing, or else you'll become disorientated?" (Or something along those lines?) And then applied it to your passions too, thinking that it's impossible to be good at more than one thing, or not a good idea to be?
Well, my friends, I am here to prove that statement wrong! (Please note this is based on MY experience and opinions, so don't take this as a solid fact!)
Firstly, the phrase "You need to focus on ONE thing, or else you'll become disorientated" doesn't mean you should limit yourself, because everyone has marvellous potential! It means that you should set yourself one clear goal, and focus on that. If you're working towards two, three, or more different goals, then you WILL become super disorientated and unsure what you ACTUALLY want to pursue.
Take me, as an example.
I love reading, photography, writing, making videos, music, acting, dance, boating, several different sports and I draw in my free time. That's A LOT of passions right there, I know. So HOW do I keep myself from getting disorientated? Simple. I only have ONE clear goal, and that is to become an internet celebrity by using ALL of my passions and show-casing them on my platform! Even if they can't be used on my platform, I honestly just do them for fun, and to spend time with my friends!
(I also have a backup plan, in case "fame" doesn't work out! Another top tip to all the aspiring celebrities out there: It's always good to have a plan B!)
I find myself really lucky as I get to do all the things I love and yet I'm still just working towards my one goal. Plus, it gives my channel something different and unique to everyone else's, making mine stand out. Reason numero uno why having many passions is a good thing: It keeps you interesting! (Just don't go CRAZY and have too many passions, make sure you truly like doing it!)
Not only this, but with so many different passions, you're never bored! It also means you are less likely to fall out of love with your passion. If you don't "feel" like doing one thing, you have a whole array of others to choose from! If I'm not in the mood to write, or make a video, then I can read, draw, or play the keyboard/guitar, and vice versa! See what I mean? There's always something to do, and I always end up enjoying it!
Another reason, linked to number one, is you often have something to talk about, which is handy when you meet new people and want to find common ground. Having many passions and skills means you have quite a few ice-breakers, as well as background knowledge on a lot of things, so it's pretty easy to strike up a conversation and a potential friendship!
So, if there's one thing to take away from reading this, it's that several passions, within reason, are GOOD things to have! Don't limit yourself, and don't be afraid to give something a try! Just make sure you truly like what you are doing :)
Until next time!
