Welcome to the Astrology of September 27-October 2nd

Written by Mars♂

Libra season with a powerful Mercury retrograde is an opportunity for us to go inwards, reflect and slow things down. Let’s get into the astrology!

Weekly Moon Phases

  • September 27th-30th: The Gemini Last Quarter Moon, a moon that invites us to explore our inner world. It’s a good time to reflect on goals achieved and goals yet to be achieved.

  • October 1st-2nd: The Last Quarter moon will move into Cancer this week, we may be drawn to hibernation and the home before the Waning Crescent moon on October 2nd in Leo. As the moon wanes and gets as small as possible, we may feel called to rest and in the creative sign of Leo, we can channel this energy into indulging in some much-needed self-care.

Planetary Zodiacs

Sun in Libra: The sun is in Libra, calling us to consider others and strive for progress and equality. Libra is often mistaken for being fickle, indecisive, and surface-level which can be true but the highest form of Libra energy is a relentless pursuit for justice, for example, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has a Libra stellium (concentration of energy in the sign of Libra) with her sun, mercury, and mars in the air sign.

Moon in Gemini-Cancer: The moon starts in Gemini and will move into Cancer but it’s the position of the moon we feel the most due to its last quarter and waning crescent energy; we may feel tired and drawn to some alone time.

Mercury in Libra: Mercury is still in Libra and is retrograde officially from the 27th September-18th October. Mercury retrograde is not a time for panic but it is a time for continually stepping back, checking in with ourselves, and being conscious about our actions and our words.

Venus in Scorpio: Venus is in Scorpio until 7th October, igniting passions and bringing an intensity to our relationships, perhaps our looks, and our values.

Mars in Libra: Mars is in Libra: we may feel motivated to champion causes for fairness and equality but we also might find we are people-pleasing and avoiding conflict. As we navigate Mercury retrograde, it’s important we consider our words and actions before we lead with them without giving up our voices entirely. We are diligent and committed to doing our very best.

Key Aspects

For those who don't know: aspects are angles that determine how each planet's energies react with another planet's. They can affect an overall chart's meaning by giving more insight into how that planet behaves under its current zodiac sign.

Venus trine Neptune (27th September): The planet of love and the planet of fantasy dance together in harmony, making us more inclined to feel romantic, in love – whether with another or with ourselves – and like we’re floating in the clouds. It’s a beautiful transit for creativity and positivity but as always with Neptune involved be careful of making any big decisions especially to do with love. Speak to trusted loved ones and use whatever tools work to ground and center yourself if you feel a little too floaty.

Sun trine Saturn (29th September): The Libra sun meets Saturn in Aquarius on the 29th meaning we feel secure, grounded, and ready for hard work. This is a good day to get our priorities in order and tackle any important tasks. We can expect to feel capable and resilient.

Final Thoughts

Overall, the forecast looks interesting with some advantageous highlights (such as our upcoming aspects) but with Mercury retrograde for the next few weeks remember: respond, don’t react. It’s important to feel our feelings and not over-intellectualize them, as we may do during the Gemini moon, but with Venus in Scorpio it’s a possibility we could be overcome with emotion and act from that instead of allowing the emotion to visit briefly before moving on. Let this Mercury retrograde teach us that emotions are visitors and we always have a choice in how we respond.
