BURNING THOUGHTS IN CRISP-Y LETTER
Written by Udita, a current editor, and edited by Stephanie O.
Inkblot
Spreads fast
Like black blood
Creeping in veins
Fine yellow parchment
Slanting curves
Scratching melody
Of the quill
Crackling fire
Dull orange glow
Melting wax
Turns to seal
Ancient oak desk
Secret compartment
One more look
Cue the tears
Unspoken words
Burdened soul
Every breath
Like a stab
Shaky hands
Address the envelope
Bite my lip
Nervous tic
Gather courage
To drop it
Into the red box
Up in flames.
