June 16th

Written by Faye, one of our literature and poetry writers, and edited by Amber, one of our editors!

Your handwriting on the envelope stuck by the fridge

The days you showed up to school with your messy blonde side fringe

Secrets we shared are never to be spoken of

Daughter on cassette beneath your vinyl of Tapestry

And now your fate is shattered glass written all over me.

Spoken or not, you knew me and all of my wonders

We talked about the boy who lived under the covers

We fought over which man would stand with us when it thundered

When I show up to your room with a faint smile

You would have already stocked up on tissue, enough to absorb the River Nile.

Alive or not, you still know me, better than anyone

Even when I am standing on top of you, six feet apart

If I left with you, would we ride around town?

Or would you still tell me to stay back with a smile instead of a frown?
