Lullaby For Skyscrapers
Written by Willow, one of our poetry writers, and edited by Udita, one of our editors!
I sing lullabies to weary skyscrapers
& they wilt at the beckon of dawn
through dusk they lit up vigils
that line our nocturnal abodes
always more, the hunger for jewels
like a wolf’s milk tooth
cradling our heart-lines
rivers, instead of veins that carry
a full day’s revelry, ribbons
from the ballroom woven about
carnal instincts that overtake
an unnatural peace
We skip like meteors
from one full house to another
skyscrapers having been a celestial
phenomenon we thought guided us
but now wheezing, encrusted
in hazy amnesia
