The April Tableau
Written by Willow, one of our poetry writers, and edited by Udita, one of our editors!
For Srinidhi
Move through the clouds soundlessly,
as you did back at home
When can the painting on your bedroom wall
return to the prairie tableau?
Now it’s all faded lemons & sulphur:
hot baths limply seethe in the tired Spring,
(April is tired but wakeful with bitterness)
park benches grow weak with arthritis
When can the circuses of Las Vegas return?
In this feverish bout
of tepid birdsong, take, impatiently,
the season’s languishing pulse
