Three Things To Do When Alone
Written by Okezie, one of our poetry writers, and edited by Kate, one of our editors!
One:
In solitude, I bleed out onto paper;
Hoping I can survive and call it poetry,
Hoping I can write the words that will remain unsaid,
The words that I’d rather be telling you.
Two:
When alone I cease to exist;
No longer a man, I am only an extension of my thoughts,
Thoughts that end up discarded when I am thrust back into reality,
Thoughts that remind me of the depth of my aloneness.
Three:
At the end of the day, I rest;
For when I sleep, I cannot be confronted by my problems,
For when I dream, with or without my eyes open,
I dream of being alone, alone with you.
